Welcome to the SEAD Artists monthly recap! As we continue to drive innovation and collaboration in the Agri-tech sector, we're excited to share the milestones we've achieved over the past month. From attending key industry events to bidding for major projects, here's a detailed look at our recent activities and upcoming plans.
Engaging with Industry Leaders at the UKRI Investors Event
We kicked off the month by attending the UKRI Investors event, where we had the opportunity to speak with representatives from KPMG, Shell Energy and more. This event was a valuable platform for discussing potential investment opportunities and exploring new avenues for growth. Engaging with industry leaders and investors, we gained insights that will help us strategize and advance our projects.
Networking at Groundswell: Building Future Collaborations
Our participation in Groundswell was a highlight of the month. This year, we had the pleasure of hosting a joint stall with Anglia Ruskin University. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our work and connect with like-minded individuals dedicated to sustainable farming and regenerative agriculture. Meeting the team from Anglia Ruskin University was a particular highlight, and we were inspired by their passion and innovative approaches.
We also had the chance to meet with Ed Walsh from Soil Essentials, further enriching our network with valuable insights and potential collaborative opportunities. Additionally, we connected with key stakeholders, including the NFU, and are excited about the potential collaborations and future projects that may arise from these connections. Groundswell continues to be a pivotal event for fostering partnerships and driving forward the agenda for sustainable agriculture.
Navigating Changes in DEFRA
The recent election changes to DEFRA have brought new priorities to the forefront. The new Defra Secretary, Steve Reed MP, has outlined five key priorities:
Clean up rivers, lakes, and seas
Create a roadmap for a zero-waste economy
Support farmers to boost food security
Ensure nature recovery
Protect communities from flooding
We are also closely following the appointment of Daniel Zeichner MP as Defra Minister and Chris Stark's new role in delivering clean power by 2030. These changes align with our mission, and we are eager to engage in discussions and initiatives that support these goals. Our upcoming webinar with Chris Stark will delve into what the new government can do on climate change policy and agri-food.
This is a critical time for us to reflect on how we can contribute to these new priorities and ensure that our projects align with the broader goals of sustainability and environmental protection.
Upcoming Event: Royal Holloway Omni Drone Research Facility Networking Event
We are looking forward to attending the Royal Holloway Omni Drone Research Facility networking event on July 23rd. This event will provide another excellent opportunity to connect with industry peers, explore innovative research, and discuss potential collaborations.
Celebrating Academic Achievements: Dr. Owen McAree
We would like to extend our congratulations to one of our partners, Owen McAree, on his new position as a Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Liverpool. Dr. Owen McAree MEng PhD, your achievements inspire us, and we are proud to have you as part of our extended network.
Looking Ahead: Exciting Projects and Collaborations
We have submitted an application to Innovate UK for Agri-Tech East and eagerly await the results. Additionally, we are continuously looking to collaborate with more partners on exciting projects where integrated drone and Agri solutions are needed. This aligns perfectly with our expertise and vision for the future.
As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of fostering innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector. Stay tuned for more updates on our projects, events, and collaborations.
